Christmas Assembly
Our students have been busily learning several Christmas dances under the expert tutelage of our Performing Arts teacher, Mrs Wood. Next Friday 4th Dec from 8:45am in the Basketball court we will host our Christmas Assembly, where our students will showcase these performances. All parents/relatives are invited to attend. Due to health requirements, there will be a QR Code sign in register that all visitors will need to complete upon arrival. Parents are asked to remain in the parent seating section and adhere to COVID-safe protocols during the event.
2021 School Leadership
Next Wednesday 25th November from 8:30am in our hall, the year 5 students will present their leadership speeches to teachers and year 4 and 5 students. Below is a list of nominees for 2021 leadership positions.
Leaders will be announced at assembly on Friday 27th November.
Year 6 Graduation Dinner
All the very best to our Year 6 students, who will enjoy their graduation dinner this Thursday 26th November at the Mackay Turf Club from 6:30pm. This dinner is always a special rite of passage for our students and I am glad that we can still go ahead with this event. Many thanks to the organising committee for making this event a reality.
2021 Orientation Session
This Thursday 26th November, all St Mary’s students will participate in an orientation morning in readiness for the 2021 school year. Our current Year 6 students will attend the Mercy College orientation day, from 8:30am-3pm. All current Prep – Year 5 students, as well as several new students to St Mary’s, will spend the morning with their class teachers for next year. We will also host our 2021 Preps, who will visit from 9:00am- 10:15am.
Semester Two Reports
Please note that Semester 2 report cards will be available via Parent lounge from 4pm on Wednesday 2nd December. To access Parent Lounge, follow these simple steps;
- Open the St Mary’s schoolzine app and click the ‘Parent Lounge’ tile. Alternatively, click here.
- Login with your username (6 digit ID code which can be found on your school fee account). Your password remains the same as previously used.
- Click on the ‘Academic Reports’ tab.

Seafarer's Annual Shoebox Appeal
Can you help us support Seafarers Mackay with their annual Shoebox Appeal? Your donation of toiletries, board games and other Christmas treats will bring a little Christmas joy for those seafarers visiting Hay Point and Mackay after spending many months at sea. Donations will be placed in shoe boxes and distributed to the seafarers who will greatly appreciate your generosity. Please send your donations to the school office.

Sacramental Program 2021
Our Sacramental Program for children wanting to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation and Communion has been on hold for 2020.
In order for the program to resume in 2021, we require an indication of how many students wish to begin or recommence their preparation.

Last term we had many of our St Mary’s students in grades 4-6 participate in ICAS assessments. Receiving the certificates for these assessments has taken some time and we are still awaiting the English awards but before the year’s end I would like to congratulate the following students on their efforts across the four domains of Science, English, Spelling and Mathematics:

Students who sat an ICAS assessment can view their tests in the student section of the Results and Reports Portal. A student accesses the Portal (https://www.unswglobal.unsw.edu.au/educational-assessments/results-and-reports-portal/) using their TAP-ID and PIN printed on the back of their ICAS student certificate.

St Mary's Swimming Carnival
Congratulations to all our students on your sportsmanship, participation and enjoyment at last Friday's 2020 Interhouse Swimming Carnival! We had much excitement throughout the day with 8 records being broken! More details on these record-breaking students will feature in next week's newsletter.
After much cheering and celebration, our Spirit Award, kindly donated by the Clarendon family was awarded to Illawong Blue.
Eungella Green once again took home the trophy for the fourth year in a row!
